A sustainable, hybrid train-the-trainer system designed for long-term culture change.
01

What Is Included?

  • The Learning Portal: Interactive, asynchronous online modules for all levels (DSPs, Supervisors, and Active Care Leaders) to master the basic concepts at their own pace.
  • The Skills Sessions: Hands-on, synchronous workshops where staff move from "knowing" to "doing."
  • The Toolkit: A complete suite of digital resources, including the Program, Observation, and Supervisor Checklists used to assess environmental quality and staff engagement.
02

The Training Hierarchy

  • The Foundation: All staff (DSPs and Supervisors) complete their specific asynchronous courses to establish a baseline of knowledge.
  • The Trainer Mastery: We prepare your internal, Active Care Leaders through a virtual, live 2-Day Train-the-Trainer Workshop.
  • The Internal Rollout: Once prepared, your Active Care Leaders facilitate the live, in-person Skills Sessions for their own DSPs and Supervisors to test for knowledge and verify competence.
03

The Credential & Commitment

  • Leader Credentialing: An Active Care Consultant will observe your Active Care Leaders delivering a Skills Session to earn the Active Care Credential (ACT-1).
  • Staff Recognition: DSPs and Supervisors receive a Certificate of Completion after passing their modules and Skill Session competency assessments.
  • Service Accreditation: Once your agency is successfully running the model, you can opt for Active Care Accreditation for specific services, earning a spot on our Public Registry.

What Active Care agencies are saying

From a provider perspective, Active Care directly targets areas where we’ve consistently identified gaps in service delivery and relationship building. The framework is straightforward, measurable, and provides clear direction for both direct support staff and supervisors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is Active Care for?

Active Care is designed for adult disability service agencies providing day support and residential service - whether you are a single-site program just getting started or a multi-site organization already recognized for quality. Our system meets agencies where they are, strengthening existing practices or helping build structure from the ground up to support consistent, engaging care.

What sets Active Care apart from other adult disability service training providers?

Active Care goes beyond one-time trainings by focusing on how skills are taught, coached, and sustained across an entire agency. Our model combines evidence-based practices with a practical train-the-trainer system that builds internal capacity, supports supervisors, and ensures staff can consistently apply skills in real service settings so quality care is maintained over time, not just introduced.

Will this require a lot of extra work from our staff?

Active Care is not about doing more work; it is about changing how the work is done. While there is an initial learning curve during the training phase, the model is designed to eliminate "unstructured downtime" and "going through the motions." By providing staff with clear roles and predictable schedules, many agencies find that staff stress and burnout actually decrease.

Which staff benefit most from Active Care?

Active Care is designed to support staff at every level of an organization. Direct Support Professionals gain practical tools for engagement and daily care, Supervisors learn how to coach and support their teams effectively, and Active Care Leaders build the skills needed to sustain quality and consistency across services.
